In an effort to strengthen academic and research ties between institutions actively engaged in the field of human rights, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Human Rights Institute of the University of Isfahan (HRIUI) and the Research Center and UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Peace and Democracy at Shahid Beheshti University. The MoU was formalized during a joint session attended by Prof. Mohammad Ali Basiri, Head of the HRIUI, and Prof. Mehdi Nouraei, faculty member and Head of the Academic Division of the UNESCO Chair along with a number of academic and executive officials from both institutions.
The purpose of this agreement is to establish a framework for effective exchange of knowledge, experience, and research capacities between the two institutions—an initiative that is expected to significantly contribute to the expansion and deepening of interdisciplinary studies in the realm of human rights. Key areas of cooperation outlined in the MoU include joint design and implementation of research projects, organization of expert meetings and educational workshops, and the production and dissemination of diverse academic publications. Both parties also placed special emphasis on harnessing the potential of faculty members and postgraduate students from both universities in the context of collaborative initiatives.
Undoubtedly, this partnership marks a pivotal step toward the formation of a broader network of academic interactions among Iranian universities in the domain of human rights. By leveraging local capacities alongside international standards, such a network could meaningfully promote the human rights discourse across both domestic and international academic spheres.
