Prison cannot make me give up my will for freedom.... (Ma Thida)

Myanmar, a Southeast Asian country spanning over 676,000 square kilometers with a population of approximately 55 million, is one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse nations in the region. Formerly known as Burma, the country gained independence from Britain in 1948 and has since undergone significant political and social transformations. Naypyidaw, the capital of Myanmar since 2006, replaced Yangon (Rangoon), which remains the country's primary economic and cultural hub due to its rich historical background. Strategically positioned between South Asia and East Asia, Myanmar serves as a crucial bridge between the two regions. The country boasts abundant natural resources, including oil, gas, precious gemstones, and timber, which play a vital role in its economy. However, in recent years, Myanmar has faced multiple challenges, including political transitions, human rights concerns, and humanitarian crises. Despite these obstacles, the nation's rich cultural heritage and breathtaking landscapes have solidified its reputation as one of Asia’s most unique travel destinations.
